How to Use the Date Range Percentage Calculator

This tool lets you calculate how much time has elapsed between a start and end date/time, using a current moment that you can set manually or by dragging a slider. It's perfect for tracking progress through any time‑based project, event, or goal.

Formula

Elapsed percentage is calculated as:
Percentage = ((Current - Start) / (End - Start)) × 100%

Remaining percentage = 100% – elapsed percentage. All calculations are done in milliseconds and converted to days and weeks.

Example

Suppose you have a project from January 1 to December 31. On April 1, the elapsed time is about 25% of the year. Our tool shows you the exact percentage, along with days and weeks passed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use dates only, without times?

Yes, just set the time part to 00:00 (midnight) for all inputs. The calculation will still work to the day level.

What if my current time is outside the range?

The tool automatically clamps the current time to the start/end boundaries, so you never get negative percentages or over 100%.

Does it handle time zones?

The inputs are interpreted as local time based on the browser's time zone. For consistent results, use the same time zone for all dates.

How accurate is it?

Calculations are accurate to the millisecond. Days are displayed with two decimals for finer granularity.
